This blog site will discuss aspects of a crewed charter yacht vacation. I’ll address all aspects of crewed chater yachting, from comparing it to bareboat yacht charters to discussion of destinations and also types of yachts. I’ll also talk about crewed charter yacht shows, and maybe some boat shows in general. Since this is is just the beginning, I reserve the right to discuss most yachting/boating issues.
First topic: Crewed yacht charters in the Virgin Islands
This is the Caribbean’s best yachting destinations It’s perfect for a first time charter destination. It’s also a great place to return to! What makes it one of the best places in the world to sail? Idyllic beaches, criss-crossing the Sir Francis Drake Channel, great beach bars and restaurants, picturesque islands and great people! For first time sailors, the close proximity of the islands means no more than an hour or two of sailing. Seasoned sailors can sail as long as they like! Snorkel the caves of Norman Island, believed to be the setting for Robert Louis Stephenson’s Treasure Island. Treasure was actually found there! Snorkel or dive the wreck of the RMS Rhone. Wade into the Soggy Dollar Bar or party at famous Foxy’s on Jost Van Dyke. Sample the lobster and endless beaches of Anegada. There’s so much more!
Power yachts, multihulled yachts and monohull sailing yachts are all available for crewed yacht charters. It’s a fantastic vacation to have a captain and a chef! No worries! Most captains will let you have a hand at sailing, if you’d like. This means a vacation for everyone, the wife as well. Bareboat charters mean someone has to provision and cook.
Start your charter from St. Thomas (don’t forget to shop) or from Tortola. It may be easier to fly into St. Thomas, you can start your charter here (depending on your parties size) or ferry to Tortola from St. Thomas. There are flights to Tortola from San Juan Puerto Rico. You’ll need a passport to sail in the British Virgin Islands.
I’m ready to escape the winter weather and go sailing!!
Chartering a yacht is a super alternative to the massive, often overpriced resorts that are overcrowded and noisy. The flexibility of boating wherever, whenever adds freedom and solitude that is bar none to traditional vacation spots. There is nothing like the ocean air to refresh and recharge the spirit!
